The township executive may levy a tax and use appropriated township funds to pay for recreation programs, facilities (including a community center used for recreational purposes), or services.
The legislative body of a township may adopt a resolution creating a department of parks and recreation, whose board shall be established by the township executive.

Because of the abundant recreational facilities provided by the state, county and schools, Bloomfield Township does not fund a separate, township based, parks and recreation program.
Non-Township Parks & Recreation in Bloomfield Township
The LaGrange County Parks Department maintains 6 parks, 1 nature center, 1 nature preserve and 3 public beaches throughout the county.
Located in southeastern Bloomfield Township, the Maple Wood Nature Center provides a northern hardwood forest, wooded swamp, and wet prairie with miles of hiking trails. There is also the annual Maple Syrup Days held the third weekend in March.
The Pigeon River Fish & Wildlife Area occupies a section of northeast Bloomfield Township. It is dedicated to providing quality hunting and fishing opportunities while maintaining 11,605 acres of land, 529 acres of lakes and impoundments and 17 miles of free flowing river.
